From Malaysiakini: Your say: PAS 'a trojan horse in Pakatan'

Your say: PAS 'a trojan horse in Pakatan'

Well, well, what malaysiakini is up to at? I think 'Trojan Horse' is a favorite word in Malaysian politics nowadays. Ezam a Trojan Horse, so is PAS and I wonder who else?

Coming back to the issue, I am sad that malaysiakini have open the flood-gate for the readers to put this matter out of the perspective.

It was just a suggestion and it was mentioned that there will be negotiation between the PR leadership of this issue. What try to fan out the sentiments?

It was disappointing that whenever PAS had wanted to suggest something, the non-muslims would come out forcefully to deny whatever suggestion they have. Now, talk about democracy, will DAP (who are now trying to enforce their Malaysia Malaysian principles without consulting the rest of the PR members) act just like UMNO in BN now, treating PAS as a second rater component party?

Why DAP and majority of the non-muslims are so scared of PAS hudud law? Anybody in Kelantan stoned to death or have their limbs cut while PAS in power?

Or is it due to the fact that there is rumors that PAS suggested that gambling and selling of liquor will be restricted?

Is those sins are very important?

Yes, I totaally agree. The non muslims are just a bunch of Islamophobes, without really understanding about Islam at all. Anything that PAS suggest, just gets shot down. And at the same time try to push their so called Malaysian Malaysia down our throat.

Don't Let PAS Frame The Religious Debate

I disagree with you that Malaysiakini readers have overeacted because the question of Islamic state and hudud laws affect the hearts oand minds of all Malaysians.

Ideally, in any healthy democratic country, affairs of the state and affairs of religion should be kept separate and this is enshrined in our constitution where we allow for the freedom of religious worship and belief. By implication, even atheists who believe in a materialistic world have a right to their beliefs as long as they do not harm others and themselves.
For the PAS youth leader to proclaim and presume that all Muslims subscribe to hudud laws is similar to the situation where, for instance, the Catholics in Malaysia were to make it a law that all Christians, including Prostestants like myself, wear the cross. While I am sure any power-wielding Catholic party is not so foolish as to do such a thing, I am using this as an example to show the tremendous problems of making religious values into laws for everyone. (Another example would be for an elected Christian sect leader to make it a law that all Christians can only worship on Saturdays).

Based on the latest controversy of PAS revealing its true colours, I think the best strategy is to counter a religious premise (hudud laws) with another religious premise (the freedom of every God-created person to love and worship God is a freedom that God grants out of a true, genuine love reminiscent of a father's unconditional love for his children).

Here is the deep deception which religious fanatics are trying to deceive all faithful Malaysian citizens: that the acceptance of secular law is an acceptance of godless laws, i.e a system of justice without god in the centre of judgement. This is false and against the spirit if not the letter of the constitution. We have to obey traffic laws and laws of commerce but if, you as a member of your religious fraternity, wish to conduct business according to your Syariah principles, well and good. Nobody is stopping you until and unless you impose your principles and laws on other people (who may be even more spiritual than you.)

In conclusion, leaders in the DAP and Keadilan have to intelligently engage PAS in this crucial debate. And all Malaysians have to deal with the root of this issue, which is not so much about secular laws versus religious laws.

Don’t let PAS frame the debate. The actual debate is essentially this: Should religious practices be imposed on people who do not share the same religious interpretations? If the answer is a resounding No!, then the next question is: Can the practice of religion (and the love of God) be the free will of its practitioners or is it best to enforce it through punishment and penalties? The answer to this question will resolve the issue of whether Malaysia or any of the five states in which PR rules is an Islamic state, a Christian state or a secular state.

Nobody in Kelantan was stoned to death or have their limbs cut? Oh, they will once PAS is able to amend the constitution. Didn't they make that clear?

As to asking whether the drinking or gambling 'sin' is important, how about asking if ketuanan melayu is that important?
Sure as hell it is not important to me but it is the whole world to some people. So please don't dictate what is important to others.

What’s so great about Kelantan? I stepped into that state once and never want to go back; the atmosphere is so repressive! No women should ever be forced to wear the veil for one thing! These mullahs think they’re God-selected warriors; to implement religion by the “sword”! Now behaving more and more like the Taliban/Al-Qaeda cavemnen! Many non-Malays/non-Muslims don’t feel such repression since they are left free to do what they want in Kelantan. But yet don’t they understand that Malays are a diverse lot and for liberals, Kelantan is a twilight-zone nightmare! I know many Kelantanese who have escaped with relish but with sorrow at the same time; since they never feel belong there. And this include the gay communities such as the transvestite community. What kind of religion should make its followers feel that way when religion is supposed to be about kindness, compassion, love, forgiveness and humility? PAS is indeed a Trojan Horse; no wonder all the backdoor meetings with Umno! Use Islam, Ketuanan Melayu ideology and Raja-raja Melayu, to keep the ordinary Malays and Muslims like cows forever! We are waiting for the day when these hypocrites defected to Umno and claiming they did it all for those false reasons above!
